Un-Winterizing a 2022 Winnebago Travato 59K
De-Winterizing a 2022 59K model Travato by Tim Burke – AndiamoRV.com
These are the steps I follow when I am un-winterizing my 2022 Winnebago Travato 59K. This is after I had winterized by filling the water lines with RV antifreeze as shown on our YouTube channel at: https://youtu.be/7Gd3YT63Ezo?si=akquWeXXEbpWP5Qw
1. Connect clean white water hose to the inlet. (I use a blue water filter on all water going into the van. But if you don’t drink from your fresh water tank, this could be optional).
Turn it on.
2. Change valves from winterized to City Water BUT LEAVE THE RED TRUMA BYPASS VALVE IN THE BYPASS POSITION.
3. Purge water from lines by opening each water valve in the van until the water turns clear and then closing the valve. Bathroom and kitchen sinks (both cold and hot valves) and while at the kitchen sink, open the Eco-Hot valve for about 5 seconds, toilet, toilet spray, shower (cold and hot), and the two white valves on the Nautilus Panel for the outdoor shower.
4. Then change the red valve so the Truma is not bypassed and use city water to fill the Truma. (Open the hot side of the kitchen sink faucet just a bit to allow someplace for the air to go. When it stops spitting air and runs smoothly, it’s full – close the valve.)
5. THEN change the valves at the Nautilus to “PowerFill” the fresh water tank under the van. I like to purge the tank too. So I fill it about halfway. And then I’ll turn off the water and crawl under to take out the plug and empty the fresh water tank. Put the plug back in and then turn the water back on to fill the tank (full or partial, depending on when your next trip will be).
6. When completed change the valves to Use Water from the tank and remove the water hose.
7. If you are using a water filter that came from Winnebago: Turn off the water pump. Go under the bed (59K) and carefully remove the water filter housing. You may need a towel underneath it to catch water that will spill out. Empty and clean the housing. Add a new filter and replace the housing.
Note: We are not “sanitizing” the system as we don’t drink water from our tank. However, if you plan to drink the water or use it for cooking, you’ll want to follow the steps in the owners manual on sanitizing the system (using bleach). When I’ve done this in the past, it took awhile for the tasted to improve. So I also used a water system “cleaner” to make the water taste fresher. I used the Camco TastePURE product. Amazon Link: https://amzn.to/4atMpsW – We typically bring a separate water container for fresh water or buy jugs at a grocery store. We just don’t trust the tank under the van.
Best wishes!
